Seasons 4-6 questions

Hello.

I discovered the Longmire series a few months ago, and decided to invest in it one season at a time. I have bought the complete series of other TV shows based on reviews, only to find that their opinion on what is PG13, Mature or R rated is greatly different than mine, and I ended up tossing the entire series rather than subject myself to any more of what I consider unacceptable language or sensuality.

I have really enjoyed the first 3 seasons of Longmire. It combines 2 of my favorite genres: Westerns and Detective shows. And it has done so with minimal profanity, blasphemy and sensuality so far. That level of self constraint and morality is one of the aspects that impressed me with this show.

However, as I proceed into season 4 I am suddenly being assaulted with a much higher level of verbal trash; what I consider R rated. I am assuming this is because the show changed networks (went to Netflix I think?) and the new network decided to change the show rating.

My question is: Do the remaining episodes of seasons 4-6 continue to play out at this level of verbal "freedom"? IOW, will I have to endure this level of profanity and blasphemy to continue with the series' episodes? Thanks!

I recommend watching the remaining seasons. The show never jumped the shark. I don't think the language got any worse but I'm used to foul language on so many shows. I would say that the foul language on Longmire is tame compared to other shows.

What does "never jumped the shark" mean?
Also, if I understand your response, the use of the profanity and blasphemy used in S4E1 continues throughout the remaining series, correct?

Jumping the shark is a phrase in the US for that episode when a show starts to stink. There was a Happy Days episode that featured Fonzie jumping a shark on waterskiis and the writing became really bad at that point. Many of these show writers run out of ideas and the shows start to stink. I don't regret watching the final seasons of Longmire. I don't remember the profanity so I can't comment on the foul language. I never thought the profanity was bad when compared to other shows.

I imagine by now you have made your decision and I'm curious how it's gone. I'm finishing Season 4 and nothing jumps out as being offensive. I'm really enjoying this binge and will be sorry when it's done.
