A great zombie flick. But to really appreciate it -- and laugh your head off -- you need to understand Cuban Spanish slang and know a bit about Cuban culture and history. If you do, you'll find this movie is a riot.

Indeed there is a huge accent! I speak a little Spanish, and I couldn't understand a word of it!
However, the subs helped me absorb some Cuban history and culture. Not only did it provide a zombie gorefest, but I also walked away with a History lesson!
This is very true, I am Puerto Rican and even I was a bit lost with the slang. That being said I think I found it way funnier than my non Spanish speaking friends because I am familiar with the culture.

shareGood point. I grew up around Cubans so I understood a lot of what they said though not everything but I did recognize the culture. In particular I laughed at the casual way they would throw around expletives and exaggerated profanity whenever anything went wrong. I definitely recognized aspects of a lot of the people I went to school with and it was hilarious.

Like someone mentioned above, I'm a Puerto Rican ex-New Yorker, now living in Central FL (Tampa) around many Cubans, some raised here, but a good amount that have only moved here from Cuba anywhere from 1 to 5 short years ago..some I've even contracted to do house repairs and such...and even I Can't understand them from time to time...many of them talk like Juan does in the movie (very fast with lots of cuban slang), my wife does much better...she enjoyed this movie as she was raised here in FL around them for many more years and she was CRACKING UP constantly! The subtitles didn't do many of the comedic lines justice as they are, in some cases, RAUNCHIER then what is written.
*Can't think of any examples, but noticed some right away.
