Not much magic about Belle Isle...

Now don't get me wrong, I liked this movie very much. All the actors were wonderful and such, but the whole thing about the "magical island" and having to build a raft to go visit there etc seemed very uhm, underdeveloped.

Like, they spend all this screen time building an actual raft and talking about this island etc then they spend about two minutes there. Then they basically go there, the retarded kid falls in the water and then two seconds later they just happen to find their mother's (not very well) hidden box with diary and stuff and then it's back to the mainland, and very little is made out of this whole sidestory.

It's just that after all that buildup i was expecting the kids to spend a little more than about two minutes there, maybe go exploring a bit and getting lost in the forest, maybe finding a dead body "Stand by Me"-style or having some other profound and meaningful experience like that. Oh well.
