Phillip's sister

I have watched this film several times, and I do not understand why Phillip was angry with Vincent for sleeping with his sister. On another rewatch I think I found something that there was a hint of a incestuous relationship with Phillip and his younger sister. The way he looked at her when she was attracting guys at that ceremony was very telling. I think perhaps Phillip wanting his sister for himself. Agree with this observation. Pay close attention to detail, it's there!

Well, he was obsessed with her because of their rough upbringing.

Maybe he subliminally had incestuous feelings for her. Kinda like Tony Montana in Scarface.

He was protective of her I think (especially given the abuse they received growing up). He probably especially didn't want her ending up with the type of guy he knew his friends (and himself) were--he didn't want her getting hurt by a cheating type.

Not to mention it's not an uncommon taboo in many circles of male friends, for one to date any of the others' sisters. For one, such a thing can ruin the friendship if there's a nasty breakup. Phillip's attitude seemed almost cliche to me at least.

As for the party (where she's not flirting with any of his friends), that was just general protectiveness, that nonetheless he needed to let go of some because she was an adult.

Understanding is a three-edged sword.

This is why you should't cheat. Would you like someone doing that to your sister or brother?

Or maybe he doesnt want no one screwing over his family. I take it you dont have a little sister

No man wants his baby sister sleeping with any of his friends, especially with the kind of friends that he has.

A bit of the old ultraviolence...
