SuperShock (Patrick) - 300 years old and suffering dementia

Note: I have only seen up to episode 8 of season 2. So maybe some of this was made clear in last night's episode....

I had to learn a lot about aging, senior citizens, dementia and it's largest subset - Alzheimer's disease - this past decade. Some of my father's most intelligent friends became drooling idiots, unable to remember who they were, who their family members were, or answer any of the 5 "W's" of journalism: Who. What. When. Where. Why.

Early stage Alzheimer's can seem to be simply irritating, but as it progresses it becomes increasingly nightmarish. Not only do you start to forget everything, but you don't even realize that there was something that you once knew but now it is gone. Everyday things become confusing, and some people suffer complete changes of character and personality.

Modern science tells us that by the time we reach our 80s, 1 out of 6 people have signs of dementia. It seems to take roughly 10 years from when other people begin to notice to the time when supervised care is needed. My Mom is in such a facility now.

If SuperShock is 300 years old, he might well be suffering from dementia. At least the early stages of it. He confused Callista with Janis the first time he saw Callista in the Retro Girl outfit. He also told Walker that he has been suffering from mental issues.

Imagine, a Superhero whose personality and morality was set in the late 1700s.... now losing his ability to think with a clear mind.....
I think that I would be terrified to be around such a person!

Ep 9 makes it quite clear I think.

Although, he looks like he is 20 in WW2,1940, it's 70 years after-ish. He looks like he's 60.
So he aged 20 years in 230 years and then 40 years in the last 70. Seems odd way to do things.

Though it's possible Madeson (sp) just a adlibbed that lol
