Claire, Meechum & Frank's nonexistent relationship

I never understood why the writers never went any further with those 3 or concluded their relationship. It was pretty odd for Meechum to be involved with the congressman/president and his wife in such a shocking way and it's never mentioned again. Although Meechum shows his longing for the president when the president asked him to keep him company and the whole bro-rotic hand print on the wall scene, it's never really explored behind that. Did anyone else find that odd?

Meechum was totally and utterly devoted to Frank, and that was the nature of their relationship. It wasn't so much that he was "longing" for him -- the sex scene was just one example of many where Meechum shows his devotion and gives Frank what he wants. Remember in that painting scene, Meechum initially likes the painting but changes his opinion when Frank says he dislikes it. These two scenes might seem radically different in scale but they both show how devoted Meechum was to Frank. He was probably the most trustworthy person on Frank's side as Frank could simply look Meechum in the eyes and know he was telling the truth when Seth tried to pin the leaks on him. I think their relationship ended perfectly with Meechum literally taking a bullet for Frank.

To me Meechum was such a great minor character despite the fact that all of his best moments could easily be missed by a casual viewer.

I do wish he had more to do in seasons 3 and 4.
