Is season 5 the last season? ( I hope )

I thought this was the last season and so I binged watched
the last episodes last night and didn't get any sleep. Ugh,
it feels like this was the last season because they didn't seem
to care or think much about the story. To me it seems rushed
like they were sprinting to the end without really having anything
to say or any point to the series.

Frank out, and Claire in the White House? God, I hope the American
people are not that terribly stupid, but after our last election one can
see it's not far off.

I just want it to be done and over. I can't stand any of the people in
the show and the more positive someone is portrayed the worse
happens to them.

I do have to say that having binge-watched so many different series
and episodes that House of Cards has an ending that is still watchable
every time. The video is great and that theme music is still amazing.

That said I don't think I could take any more of the series.

The idea that the President could push the Secretary of State down the
stairs and have the exact accident effect that he needs is ridiculous,
not to mention the whole absurdities in the election and the terrorism
actions.

reply

Nope not last season....lol

reply

Wait you have a problem with the way Frank pushed the sec of state down the stairs and it's effect, the election absurdities, terrorism YET you have zero problems with the constant breaking of the fourth wall and Frank even walking around grabbing a pen out of someone's pocket while in the fourth wall as well as instantly stopping time etc...hahahaha....look the show has NEVER, EVER been about realism. Sure it's based in it but its fantasy plain and simple....

reply

so you assume because I only mentioned one thing I only have one problem ... that is faulty reasoning. I don't want to spend all day documenting and proving my point for a show that isn't worth more than 30 seconds.

reply

So in other words you enjoy the silly breaking of the fourth wall...gotcha...

reply

i'll spell it out for you since you are either trolling and just trying to be irritating or stupid. You simply cannot assume you know what I like about a show or do not like about things on which I have not commented on, based on your own prejudices.

reply

Pretty much your first post says it all....lol

reply

Yeah, it said what I meant, but you apparently cannot comprehend that.

reply

You apparently cannot comprehend an opinion on your opinion about realism....

reply

Except your opinion is not an opinion since it is not based on anything.

reply

My opinion is based on your opinion so my opinion is valid..

reply

Everyone has an opinion that is opinionated by other opinions. Opinions like this are only opinions because most opinions can't be opinions if the person having the opinion has no clue of what an opinion looks like. Is that clear?

reply

Easy. Heaven forbid that Trump creates jobs, defeats ISIS, and secures the border. I noticed if you turn off the talking head news, things are actually very nice in this fair land. Help wanted signs springing up everywhere, clean air, good folks, and now it's the weekend, ahh.

The corruption we see in House of Cards is way more exaggerated than what happens in real life, but it can come close. For example, seeing Bernie Sanders ousted from the DNC due to corruption slanted towards Hillary is prime House of Cards material, in fact HoC is loosely based on Hillary & Bill Clinton.

There will be a Season 6, the question is if and how will Frank gain back the presidency, if at all, I mean once resigned a President can't come back... or can he?

reply

You know that the average American is losing ground to inflation and joblessness, education and health care are increasingly out of reach for many people, and are costing the rest of us enough that little will be left for people's children who are not expected to live as long as their parents or have as much opportunity.

Trump removed restrictions on coal pollution such that statistically it is going to either inflict enough health damage, or health costs, more than the profits made from keeping the coal industry alive. Another way to funnel more money to billionaires while the people take the hit.

reply

We have this thing called clean coal. And these things called scrubbers.

reply

do you believe in the tooth fairy too?

reply

Clean coal... you're funny.

Think monkey, think!

reply

If you wish it to be over so badly, it can be. For you. Nobody's forcing you to watch season 6, unless things have gotten worse in the USA than they're telling us. 😂

reply

The point is that it has gotten to be a chore to watch this show and the last few episodes have been as bad as the reality of Donald Trump.

reply

I see. Again, that may be true...for you. Binged it in a day along with my boyfriend. We didn't find it a chore to watch at all. But if you can't stand anyone (and not in that "love to hate" way) in the show, and it reminds you too much of your current reality, again, nobody's forcing you to watch. So you're doing this to yourself, while wishing the experience over for everyone else on the planet, most of whom do not share your opinion. Just tune out. If you can't, then you love to hate it, which still means you love it, and the chore is a labour of love. ;)

reply

Your comments are useless ... and I see you have to add in some more made-up nonsense about my current reality whatever that is supposed to mean. You seem to have a kind of mental problem if you cannot remember that you do not have to watch a TV show ... everyone else already knows that.

reply

You're the one who wishes it to be over so you can stop watching.

I don't mind people watching it, or not.

reply

"I just want it to be done and over. I can't stand any of the people in
the show and the more positive someone is portrayed the worse
happens to them."

I agree. I'm only hanging with it to see how it all finally ends. Hopefully, with Frank and Claire either dead or in prison. Stamper too! This show should have ended after 2-3 seasons because the writers have nowhere else to go with it. Absolutely ridiculous plotlines and zero redeeming characters outside of Tom and pretty much, Seth.

reply

yes! exactly

reply

It started getting tedious from season 3... lost a lot of tightness of the first two seasons...

reply

yeah, i agree ... i think everyone saw it as a gravy train because it got such critical interest and acclaim, but now it is just silly.

the one thing that really gives it gravitas though is that opening credits. I don't like too many opening credits, and I hate most of them, but the "House of Cards" opening is always interesting to watch and the theme music is really wonderful. It fit the first seasons ... now it is just way too good for such a silly show.
