Honestly just not very good

Kid’s accent was comically bad. Sounded like an exaggerated parody from a Saturday Night Live sketch. Clint was way too old so they had the camera charitably turn away whenever it came time for him to get off a horse or rise from a seated position because he couldn’t do it without a certified nursing assistant. Yet they had a woman 30 years younger coming on to him. In general, the movie played like one of those Kirk Cameron faith-based Christian movies.

I’m a huge Clint Eastwood, but I agree he appeared too old for the role. I just couldn’t help but notice his appearance, particularly how slow he moved, how frail he looked. His character was supposed to be aged yet robust. Clint is about 10 years too old for this sort of role.

I don’t, however, have a problem with the way the mother came on to him. She is supposed to be mentally out of it, so her coming on to old Clint fit the plot. As for Martha, I believe the film intended for her to be around 50-60, and Clint’s character was meant to be around 70-80 (although real Clint is 90). The Martha and Clint coupling was fine

I was probably a little harsh. It wasn’t the disaster it sounded like in my initial take. There were some light moments that were vintage Clint like when the townspeople thought he was some kind of veterinarian. But man, watching him do anything physically…. made me conscious of my own mortality.

It's not terrible per se but it's very bland. I think it's a bit harsh to compare it with a Kirk Cameron movie. I'll give it this, it's not a hateful movie.
