You met someone? LOL

Shoehorn much! How you could possibly get this inclination from that conversation. Then of course he asks him who the girl is? Really? Like your friends, and family are in potential danger and your highest priority is to know who the girl hes dating is!

Yeah, that was weird. It's like he had ESP or something because Jeremy never actually gave any inkling that he was in love. Must be something there we missed...

It was after he asked how his wife was doing....guessing he's never really cared about his friend's wife/relationship unless he's in a relationship himself. Remember at the beginning in the fire station his mate said his wife had invited him round for dinner, and he said no cos he likes to work at the weekend, then his friend replied with something like "You have to start dating again so we can hang out again doing couple nights playing board games".
I agree it was weird and out of place, like as if their wasn't more important things to discuss, like where the hell have you been!
Btw did his friend do what he asked, and make up a story that there has been a terrorist threat to the station so everyone is on guard/or get police protection?..cos the next scene at the station, everyone's just chilling out playing pingpong. lol

Yeah, but it wouldn't be unnatural for him to ask his friend who he hadn't seen in how long about his wife or family because that's what friends do. It's a bit of a stretch though you may be right as far as the intent of the character by the director and writer. Just not very realistic dialogue.

I thought that was an Odd conversation too.
