i saw the movie last night...i was quite disappointed...the only good thing was the excellent perfomance once again by phoenix and the good performance by renner...
as for MARILLON COTILARD...probably the most overatted actress of her time!! in all her movies has the same depressing, flat boring look!! and always talk quitly..like mumbling!!
she is now on top of my list of the most unlikable actresses(she got u Keira Knightley)
What a bunch of nonsense. Cotilard was fantastic in this film. I have no idea how you can possibly say she was boring. That's just insane.

she is lucky cause she is french, beautiful with large expressing eyes and has this kind of jazzy , belle epoque style which is kind of a trend nowadays and thats why pepole like her...for me she is very overatted...
No! You are way off-base here. She is an extremely talented, nuanced actress. If you really watch her, the small expressions she makes, the emotions whether happy or sad, everything about the character, she is indeed one of the best actresses we have today.
I almost agree with the Knightly comment, but Cotillard? No way.

That was my first exposure to her acting and it would have been a travesty if she had not received the best actress award for that role.
You might still hold onto the idea that she is not a good actress, but be assured you are in a very small minority with that opinion.

For those who dislike Mlle. Cotillard, try the film RUST AND BONE. You might enjoy her more in that movie (which I really like). Also, her face is her face. I agree that there is a certain sameness in her expressions, but I think that is only when she relaxes her face, it is then that her "Madonna" expression takes over, the wide-eyed innocent look. It is what she looks like. But I have to disagree regarding her acting skills. I think she is a wonderful actress.

i agree with you about Joaquin Phoenix, he was the best one in the film.. i totally disagree about Renner, he was terrible, he looked like acting in a soap opera
about Marion, i think she was amazing in the beginning and the last part of the movie, in the middle i felt her slightly cartoonish but i blame the writing that became weaker when they involved Renner's character.. she's very talented

Marion was incredible in this film...the best thing about it! You have no clue. And learn how to spell her name if you're going to criticize her, because it just makes you look like you don't know what you're talking about even more.

I've only seen her in three films now, but IMO she was great in ALL of them. Remember: she's playing a Polish girl here instead of French, and her accent was dead-on! Not an easy feat for most actresses nowadays.

The accent wasn't dead-on but she was still amazing in it. She never, ever disappoints.
