Miscast


George Clooney seems miscast to me. The film is fun except when he appears. Then it’s whiny doom and gloom. Yes, I know it’s partly the character, but it’s also how the actor conveys him. Imagine instead if Walter Matthau or Jack Lemmon or Cary Grant (in Father Goose mode) were in this role. Comedic genius. It’s all in the details….

Still, the film is better than most Disney products today….

actually, I thought he was great in this. I've not exactly viewed his entire library, but everything else I've seen him in, he seems to just preen around looking smug.
From my experience of his work, he was playing against type in this and I thought he did a good job.
