Why don't the Davenport brothers give themselves bionics?

I'm talking about Donald and Douglas.
I've always wondered why egomaniacs like themselves wouldn't give themselves bionics.

I think its probably the due to fact that they are scientists. Hence, they aren't going to experiment on themselves.

Yes, it is obviously far more ethical to experiment on kids too young to give informed consent.

Neither is ethical, however, you have to choose the lesser of the 2 evils. I think, had this show been written for adults, the Davenport brothers would have given themselves bionics, as they wouldn't have needed the kid/teen demographic.
