The movie is pretty good. I dont see any "whitewashing" or whatever

Its just two strangers that got involved in some war maybe the Crusades. Then somehow for unknown reasons they just ended up in China by weird luck at the wrong place and the wrong time where the Chinese were having a long fued against asteroid/meteor monsters.

I think the movie is great. Even though the women drummers could have helped out during the battle instead of banging on their stupid drums

I agree, it was a pretty fun movie. It's been a while since I watched it but as I remember it they weren't in China for unknown reasons, they went there to steal the formula for gun powder.

As for the drummers, drums were used in times of war for communication because it was the only thing people could hear during combat.

The poster of just Matt Damon didnt help matters, but I enjoyed it too, a fun dumb movie, from the brilliant director of Hero and House of Flying Daggers.

Neither did I, but I did see a lot of Modern-washing in that it plays up to modern youth and its cultural proclivities found in Gamer Culture, which is global. I was hoping to see a movie about Ancient China with SPIN of sorts but everything just felt like a rushed array of cliched battle sequences and sound effects.
