They say Keaton is very good, not showing any signs of aging since the original film 36 years ago. But nothing else seems to work: movie takes too long to get going, it's too downcast/serious instead of comedic horror, and the characters are so over-the-top that Beetlejuice turns out to be the most grounded one. This movie also lacks relatable characters like Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis in the original

Well, I can tell you one thing they got wrong. From all the commercials I've seen it's very obvious that Keaton has aged from the original, even under the makeup. So maybe the rest needs to be looked at as well.

It's that last bit that's gonna be the problem. The first movie only works because totally normal people are thrust into the insanity of the premise.

I love Tim Burton and am very happy he is having a career resurgence. Even if the movie isn't great, I still want to watch it. Jenna Ortega is fire
