Fake Reviews from Top Critics $212,497,272 Worldwide

Read Critic reviews after watching movie, you can see who's are fake.

Here is a perfect example of a fake review from top critic:

Top Critic: Glenn Kenny
New York Times
December 20, 2016

For an ostensible action movie, the cast spends an awful lot of time standing around and looking lost. I can only guess that they were following their director's lead.

What is he talking about???? If you watched the movie, then you know this top critic is full of it, didn't pay attention at all. Before watching movie Glenn Kenny's mind was made up to give a negative review regardless how good the movie is.

There are plenty more fake reviews about Assassin's Creed on RT.

Also Assassin's Creed did not flop or slammed with fake negative reviews in other countries, people loved it. $210,100,620 worldwide which means sequel!!!

Still needs to be released in China. Not a flop, yayeee!

reply

I don't know if it's fake but it's certainly not accurate. This is a stupid review.

reply

It needs $250 million just to break even, which means this film is a flop for sure. A sequel will never happen.

reply

Doesn't have to double budget exactly. It's not a flop. Has not been released in China.

reply

But China won't do miracles - AC doesn't have the same pull of Warcraft, there, and its releasing after a year in which the world has been literally flooded with american Action/Sci-Fi/Superhero movies.

Also, no, even by doubling its budget it will not break even: while it's true that studios usualy get more or less 55% of the worldwide gross, with higher percentages on the domestic market and lower in the foreign ones (in China, for example, studios get just about 25%-30%), this doesn't account for the marketing campaign and distribution costs - which, as a rule of thumb for a movie with this budget - usually amount to 75% to 100% of the production budget.

If, in the best possible scenario, assuming AC still has 100 mil to gross (which most likely it does'nt have) and with a very conservative esteem of 50 mil for marketing and distribution (which may, actually, be worth twice as much), the tickets won't cover the cost. Home video sales and merchandising, obviously, will - but with the MCU, the recently launched DCEU and freaking Star Wars all being in full swing on, pretty much, the same target costumers, this is gonna be a tough year to compete in the merchandising market.

Bottom line: the AC franchise has a, somewhat, established fanbase and sequels and shared universes are all the rage these days so, yeah, they may consider doing another one - but, most likely, they won't, not with these numbers.

P.S.
I felt the critic reaction was, if anything, a bit light-hearted: I don't really care for critics who got a couple of scenes wrong - the movie really is that terrible. It's boring, it wastes a number of a chances (including some good acting performances), the editing is atrocious and, when not engaged in action sequences, the directing is boring, flat or by the book, at the best. I'm actually having an hard time rating it - after this year of oh, so terrible flicks - but I'm leaning somewhere between 3 and 4.

$50 million is not exactly "a miracle". This sum is the only money it needs to gross to become profitable.

Nolan, I love you forever!

Breaking even would be a win for ubisoft - I imagine their backlog sales have spiked considerably. Basing that off a huge uptick in every assassins creed branded app. They also just tagged on a pretty damn good director for the division movie. Grabbing a director for this movie before he finished his first was a so-so plan.

If they want to be successful they should grab some no names with decent acting chops and a director with a solid vision. I'd love to see them use the Disney marvel cinematic universe approach.

reply

The fact that it's over $200 million already means that it will probably get over $250 million. Still has China and Japan to go.

reply

It already has more than $200 million, and the Chinese premiere is still yet to happen.

The Need for Speed movie grossed $66,240,000 in China. It would seem unlikely that the Need for Speed franchise is all that well known of a game series in China. Angry Birds may be more popular in China than many other games, however, despite what some people claim, there are some video game-based movies that have come close to its Chinese number.

It is hard to predict what Assassin's Creed will gross in China and Japan, but there should be a decent boost. AC will probably end up with around $220 million or so pre-China/Japan gross.

reply

Yeah, it's a backwards synergy style they have for china. There are two Chinese only mobile games coming - one in March and another one later this year. So while it may not be a warcraft type run, it'll raise some awareness come launch of those games. And best case the movie is huge and the games are runaway successes.

I was in the same NY press screening as GK and I have to say I saw a lot of people checking their phones halfway through. Dissappointed me as I thought they really weren't even trying with this one. I enjoyed it actually.

Trying to create a channel based on interpreting, reviewing, and even giving you something to laugh about film. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance.
