Why didn't they stick to the story in the games?

You know the one with Desmond and Ezio? That was an awesome story. This story felt rushed, incomplete, with one dimensional characters.

And what was up with that lazy @ss ending? That was the most disappointing thing about the whole movie.

I don't understand how they can mess this story up so much. They have excellent source material to use.

i think it would have been a bit repetitive. they story completely wrapped up in the games. I agree it might have been cool to see how ezio and desmond translate onto the big screen but i think they wanted to explore new things.

sets up for a second one pretty nicely. but i do agree it was a bit easy for the assassins to get into the temple

Because you cant tell a story of a 12 hour game in 2 hours

For me personally, I've been wanting Ubisoft to do a "soft reboot" of the Present Day, allowing for new characters in the same universe. That way, there's no risk of messing up Desmond's/Ezio's stories but they are still respected (hence certain aspects of the plot).
