Was the apple a mcguffin?

Possible spoilers

So the plot revolves around the fight for free will. Does it cause violence, or does it keep government overreach in check? Would you consider the apple a mcguffin in this instance?

Mind control is implied.

Agreed

Definitely. The game gradually establishes the Apple as having a wide range of powers and lots of mystery, and it ends up serving a practical use several times in the storyline. But in the film it's just an object everyone is chasing after. They would have done better to leave the apple out of the film, imo.

I suspect the problem is that you have too many paperclips up your nose

Or present it in a different way. They could've tell a different story that was never explored in the game, the rebellion of adam and eve from the ones the came before, aka the origin of the apple.

Instead they just copied the story from the game almost exactly.

Yeah, it's just a magic object people want that can do whatever just because. I don't mean that in a bad way either cause I thought the movie was actually pretty good. But most video games seem to follow this general principle. Like the flower in Super Mario Brothers that can make you invincible for like 7 seconds.

Trying to create a channel based on interpreting, reviewing, and even giving you something to laugh about film. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance.
