I don't think it was so obvious. They had high level talent and obviously a fairly decent budget, it didn't have to be so bad.

How have they not learned from the MCU films yet? How have any sort of nerd-franchise inspired films not learned from them? Adapt the source material, don't change it so much.

I thought the days of massive changes being made to fandom films was over, that movie studios were somehow smarter, yet they manage to do things like this and over complicate everything.

It makes me wonder if the execs who lose money on crap like this ever sit around wondering why it isn't working?
