Would have still flopped if it was rated R...
Unless the writing and directing were a lot better then what we got. Blaming the failure of the film on the PG 13 rating is pretty superficial and dumb.

shareNo, they are going to blame it on Star Wars even though plenty of movies thrived last year under the same scenario. And don't blame it on the Oscar bait movies. This year, all of them combined will be lucky to make $200-$250 million worldwide, so it means a lot of people are not going out to see them despite rave reviews (it is going to be a low rated Oscars because people won't care). The movie had no buzz (in the real world), poor reviews, no box office stars, or good WOM to get people out to see it.
I don't understand the shock and surprise. The surprise would be if had a decent box office.
The writers and the director are crap.
PG13 is one of the main reason why it sucked, the script was Pg13 and was crap at the core.
The director is a soft girly man.
The result is a soft ass crappy pg13 AC movie
This needed to be R at the core right from the start (the script)
PG13 failed for this just like it failed for Max Payne
Calling the director a soft girly man is pretty... dumb. The director is fine- Snowtown Murders and Macbeth were solid films. a lot of different factors attributed to this film bombing.
shareWell, if it was R then maybe the film would have been less expensive.
