Why focus on the crappy part of the video games?

Everyone who has played an Assassin's Creed game knows that the real world stuff is boring, and you play it for the "historical" assassination. Instead the film only spend one 1/3 in the past, and focus on the boring stuff in the present. Of course if you do that the film will fail, nobody cares about that *beep*

Yeah. When I heard that was only going to be 40% of the movie I knew it was going to suck.

Yeah the Aguilar stuff was great. Wish the whole movie was about him. He and the Female Assassin were Badass. I wanted their story. Not the stupid present. The Inquisition setting had so much potential. It LOOKED great! Why couldn't it have been the main setting?

I agree... they definitely should've made (preferably) most of the film (like 80% at least) set in the past. Developed those characters, settings, plots. Very much like the games did. Then you will care about them and their story and later on the impact will be that much stronger.

They could have waited until a sequel to introduce the present day plotline more I think. Then the pacing would've been better, and things would have flowed and made more sense. If I hadn't had any experience with the games, I probably wouldn't have known what the heck was going on in this movie at times.

Plus I just longed to actually care about the characters because that's what was so beautiful about AC for me. Not only were the games good, but I loved the characters. Maybe in the sequel, if that happens.
