125 million Budget??????

Didnt see it on the screen

where did the money go

Overseas filming and script writing. It isn't a high budget for a action movie and they didn't spend a bunch promoting it. They will be able to make the money back on it.

Do you think this film will be profitable? Just wondering what its worldwide take would have to be to justify a sequel. Would $350M do it? Currently looking at $25M opening, so that might be a stretch unless the international numbers come in strong. But I don't think they're slated for a Chinese release, so I don't know...seems like an uphill battle.

I feel like this could potentially do a lot better overseas than in the US.

reply

Well, you're blind. I'm sorry. But seriously, the effects are great, huge sets, huge battle scenes, tons of extras, a ton of different sets, costumes, weapons and stuff. It was impossible to make such a movie under 100 millions.

Budget for AC was mugh higher than that. Studios usually lie about the budget when they know their film won't make money so it's better to have a smaller flop than a huge one. As Ubisoft said itself, budget wasn't close or far from 200M. There's no way it only cost 125M. And it may have not spent a lot of money on promotion but in the past few months they put a lot of money on ads all over the world (TV, printed, internet, movie theaters), besides the actors travelling to many countries to promote it in press conferences. At least 60M was spent with marketing. It needs to gross quite more than Warcraft to break even and it will never do that. IMO it won't go nowhere near to Warcraft in the end.

reply

Exactly. I recall reading that it cost like 180 million

reply

Maybe. I think budget was between 160-175M.
