For people who thought movie sucked.. what was worth the praise?

I thought Fassbender was good, stunts, choreography, costume design, Spanish Inquisition stuff was cool

I don't speak for everyone when I say that I'll take any opportunity I can to see Michael Fassbender shirtless (or nude). Hottest man on the planet! And he's one of the best actors working today.

technical achievements and action choreography are the only redeeming qualities.

I saw it today. I'm not familiar with the video game. I don't play video games. I went to see it because it dealt with the Templars and Spain. It was interesting to me to recognize certain sites (I don't know if they were studio, CGI or what) in Granada and Sevilla. I also thought it was interesting how they imagined and depicted some of the historical characters like Torquemada, the catholic monarchs and Boabdil and his son (although I don't remember from history him having a son...). They only showed the Catholic monarchs for a brief second, but Isabel is known to have been blond, and she was darkhaired in Assassin's Creed. So there were some things lacking in those period details, but in general pretty good.

I thought the machine used for regression didn't quite make sense, and I don't believe that they explained (even within a "science fiction" context) how it worked.
