Hollywood is lacking creative minds
Creating a good movie based on a video game is one of the easiest things you could do. Its even easier than adapting a book or comic book. Its already there! You take the characters, the world and create a story just as with any other movie. Forget the fan service, that *beep* doesn't hold any artistic value. Take young directors who know and love the source material and let them do their thing. Duncan Jones came very close. All you need to do is perfect it.
