People complaining about the level of "Dumb"...

...seriously, people, you are either remembering the first film differently, or purposely avoiding key scenes that illustrate the same level of "dumbness".

The key creators and actors came back to give the fans another adventure with Harry and Lloyd and instead of allowing yourself to laugh along with them, you just want to *beep* all over everything they did? Your loss! This film is hilarious and quite a fitting tribute to the original. The spirit from the first was carried through, and Daniels/Carrey really deserve HUGE props for coming back 20 years later and getting into character again. Pity more "fans" can't see what this film does RIGHT...oh well..

Rant over, back to my game of Funnel nuts....

Problem is Dumb and Dumber To suffers from a lot of the same problems as the Unrated Cut of Dumb and Dumber had, and thats why the Unrated Cut is hated so much. One of the few times where holding back the directors vision to an extent actually worked. The editing and timing/pacing in the theatrical cut is all but gone.

I couldn't agree more on this one, as I absolutely HATE the extended cut! I actually bought a digital copy of the original film since it was the only way to get a theatrical HD cut.

Care to elaborate and draw some parallels?? I'm just not seeing the similarities.

Also, truth be told, I think the real hatred with most unrated cuts is when they CHANGE what was funny, or already there. Like the Seabass bathroom incident. It's funnier in the theatrical, but is it only "funnier" because that's how we saw it first? What if we saw the unrated cut first, would we complain not seeing Seabass in his underwear talking about HIS happy place? We'll never know...

I think it boils down to how you watched a film first and then, if you miss/don't miss the extra sequences on re-watches. One film that always comes to mind is Step Brothers, and the "special sauce" sequence in the unrated is ridiculously funny. And when I watch the theatrical(like on cable)? I sooo miss it and feel gipped!

But let's say Anchorman?? Yeah, hate the dream sequence in the unrated (changes who Burgundy is!) and the cat poop scene? Everything about the Unrated is HORRIBLE(maybe aside from the Chocolate covered squirrel dialog) I typically prefer theatrical cuts myself. In general. How about you?
