What year did Jim Carrey stop being funny?

2000?

reply

Still waiting for that year to come.

reply

Hasn't happened yet

reply

Sometime between "Fun With Dick & Jane" And "Yes Man".

reply

This is my assessment as well. Mid-2000s is when he really hit rock bottom.

2003 - Bruce Almighty (last Jim Carrey movie I enjoyed)

y u so mean bruh

reply

Is that you, Jim?

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

What year will you stop whining, by the by?

After 2000 maybe, because in 2000 Me, Myself, & Irene came out which was one of his funniest films. But I'd say he's had minor comedy successes since then. the episode of 30 Rock was hilarious, when he hosted SNL was pretty good, and Yes Man was decent.

That's not to say he hasn't been entertaining.
- He wasn't funny in A Series of Unfortunate Events but it was still fun to watch.
- Eternal Sunshine wasn't my type of movie but it was a high quality movie that many enjoy
- I Love You Phillip Morris was one of the more riskiest movies taken on by a major celebrity, so he should at least get points for that

But all in all I'd agree he hit his peak in 2000.

I say around 2005. After Bruce Almighty, its been more miss than hits. I did like Popper's Penguins, and some of the guest stars on the tv shows, but Yes Man, and that Burt Wonderstone movie, he was awful.

I haven't seen Dumb and Dumber To yet. Probably will wait till it comes on cable.

The year you thought he stopped being funny.

reply

I'll always be a Jim Carrey fan and still think he is funny, but I do think he started to be not AS funny after Me Myself and Irene. He started to show "comedy weekness" in Bruce Almighty IMO.

reply

He started to show "comedy weekness"...

Huh? Comedy seven-dayness?

1995

reply

Hahaha, I was going to say 1997. I thought The Cable Guy was the last funny thing he did.

reply

around 2000.

Bruce Almighty was already watered down compared to his 1990s films

I would have to agree, and don't get me wrong, I loved his work, as I was growing up(I was born in 77'.), 1 of my best friends and I loved goin to the theater when we were kids, and meet up with girls there, and watch the movies, but, after Bruce Almighty, I think is when his success with his entertainment went into that nose-dive, and like I said, I loved his work in the past, he just has had some seriously bad choices in what gigs to take on, which obviously are not him.......

PS
If he can find his way out of this rut, that he has been in, then yeah, it would be great, cuz, his work on "Dumb & Dumber To", literally put me to sleep twice, and I have NEVER done that to any movie!

reply

Maybe 'Me, Myself and Irene' he's been on a downfall ever since.
