Eleven minutes in...and the wokeness starts

Eleven minutes into the first episode and the narrator is talking about stewardesses in the 1970s being "fetishized" while showing a clip of a 1970s airline TV commercial featuring an attractive stewardess. Then some "cultural historian" talks about how flight attendants in the early '70s were sexually harassed constantly and "not paid as much as the men they worked with" (who? the pilots?).

This was somewhat bizarre because it had nothing to do with the Cooper events. It was just injected in the middle of the background story of the hijacking.

It seems that this is now a requirement for most new documentaries.

Exactly, what the hell has that got to do with the hunt for D B Cooper??

Haha I noticed that as well and had the same reaction to the comment about them not being paid as much as the men they worked with.

The good news is that this small moment of hamfisted, obligatory wokeness was just that: a moment. The bad news is that the rest of the series sorta sucked anyways due to completely non-woke reasons. There are much more entertaining hour-or-less-long docs about D.B. Cooper available on YouTube.

That part was so stupid. I wondered what other social issues they would waste time illuminating during a docu-clipshow-drama about an other topic. If the average temperature then was .... never mind.

I stuck with it for the first episode. I did learn something new but it wasn't worth the other 55 minutes I spent. The genre suffered from severe dumbing-down about 20 years ago and has mutated into short-attention-span reailty-tv style add-bait. Very few documentaries of quality come around any more.

Everything now has to be tainted with woke horseshit.
