The father keeps banging on about the winning the belt as the ambition but it’s not about ability it’s about who high up decides the outcome. It’s all panto so I struggled to understand why the movie made you think it’s undecided and on the night outcome. Realistically right before your talking with your opponent how it’s going to go down. Why didn’t we see this in the movie. ‘The Wrestler’’ Mickey rourke was spot on about this point

In order to get the belt the right people have to agree to the title change. Having the belt in the family would represent a high degree of professional success in the industry and it should also increase the family's notoriety and popularity, and therefore earning potential.

I agree it would've been nice to get a scene where we actually see those negotiations taking place.
The father is always saying about getting a title shot. Like it’s up to them to then win it. The Rick Flair match he must have known the outcome, maybe he went through disqualification cos he lost it in his head but in end nature boy was not going to lose it. Don’t know, could have shown more, would have been good to see fathers reaction when they keep saying the outcome will not favour them.
