thoughtful, well made and acted but not real exciting
I liked it, but don't expect much drama or tension. Víctor Erice is the highly accomplished director of the film. Its really the story about an elderly movie make maker looking back over his life. His reminiscences are brought about by the re-investigation of the sudden disappearance decades ago of his dear friend and lead actor of one of his films. No one knows what happened to him. In that way it is also a mystery movie. In the end we find out what happened and the last 20 minutes are rewarding. There are many subtle and unsubtle references to other notable films for film buffs. 6/10
