Soundtrack? Anyone?

Has anybody heard about the soundtrack from Tracks being released on record?
Because i thought it was one of the sweetest compilation in a long time...

reply

I thought the soundtrack made the film..desperate to find out if its available somewhere

Ran through the credits at the end of the film and the orchestration was by Garth Stevenson..He has a website,it does not mention the film, but i have emailed him to ask if there's any chance of the ost being released. Will let you know if he replies.

Yes, the soundtrack worked beautifully with the film - it reflected the great expanses, it was sublime. I also want to get the music when it's released and I would appreciate anyone who hears about it first, passing it on. I thought Garth Stevenson's music (he's a wonderful bass player, too) added a lot - it was a great match with the cinematography.

Just yesterday a friend of mine, who also loves the film, sent me these photos of Stevenson in his natural element.

just heard back from Garth....

'Hi Si,

Thanks for getting in touch. I'm hoping the soundtrack will come out in the Fall. Some of the music is from my CD called Flying and is available on my website or iTunes etc.

Best,

Garth'

Will be looking forward to buying this when its release!

So, what was the jazz song Robyn's friend gave her before journey?

reply

I think you're talking about "Stardust". The version used in the film was sung and performed by the song's composer, Hoagy Carmichael. It's considered one of the great american standards of all time.

reply

Yes, I was talking about this song. I have shazamed during the film but as a result I found quite another song. Thank you for your help. (;

Today marks the official release of the soundtrack album to Tracks! I'm very proud of this 75-minute album and hope you enjoy all the new music as well as a few tracks from Flying. Thank you to all the musicians who put so much time and heart into the making of this original score. The album is available on iTunes and most digital stores worldwide. CDs will be available through Lakeshore Records in a couple weeks.

Hoorah! How nice of him to email you too. You should link him to this thread to show how much we love his music!

I'm definitely going to get the soundtrack, but I'm going to wait for the cd - I want the whole package. I've seen "Tracks" several times and each time most of the audience sat motionless to the very end of the credits - pretty much transfixed. The film really casts a spell and the soundtrack plays an important part in the overall feeling. Garth Stevenson did a great job.

Loved the soundtrack, but I'm with LifeVsArt: I don't download or do iTunes, so someone pretty please release this on CD (yea I know, I'm old school).

*UPDATE*

Great news! The soundtrack is being released on CD in a couple of weeks. Amazon shows it with a release date of November 4:

Not sure if the entire soundtrack as shown/available on iTunes is released on CD, or just portions of it to make it fir onto 1 CD (the Amazon listing says "1 CD")...

"Great news! The soundtrack is being released on CD in a couple of weeks. Amazon shows it with a release date of November 4".

I would think it would be the same as the iTunes. I would like to see a track listing, though. I'll definitely get the cd.

"Tracks is a very dream-like experience, filled with never-ending, gorgeous landscape cinematography from Mandy Walker complimented by a remarkably beautiful score by Garth Stevenson (I really, really love this score - currently listening to it while writing this up)."

So, I got my "Tracks" soundtrack cd today. It's such a beautiful selection of pieces - I love it. I had downloaded the soundtrack a couple of weeks ago and I enjoyed it so much I decided I wanted the cd, too. I wasn't sorry. It's wonderfully recorded (I usually feel that the fullness of sound is more there on a cd), some great stills from the film, too.

Stoked for you buddy,Im really happy with it too..A good soundtrack enhances and enriches a film and this one works well as there isnt a lot of dialogue so its given space to work.
Beautiful film and one that stands up to repeat viewings as its more a mood piece..A big favourite of mine now and a new Ost to saviour for years to come!
