All that buildup for such a letdown of an ending [SPOILERS]

All through out the movie, Kramer teases the fact that he has this special game for Cecilia unlike the ones made for any of the other captives. We then find out it's just a gas chamber where you just have to fight to the death for the window of oxygen.....really? And she just walks free and potentially starts another scheme comfortably knowing Kramer would be dead in a few months anyway?

Another part that I absolutely hated was what was done with the stolen money. We see how passionate Kramer was with how Cecilia robbed so many naive patients and the families who lost them in her scam. They go out of their way to show these families and the amounts paid. So what does he do with the money? Not give it to said families but instead a little Mexican boy who has no aspirations whatsoever than kicking a ball against a building. One could argue that maybe his father (who was shown in all of 5 seconds) could use the money for the both of them but the movie does nothing to denote that either are deserving of it in any way. Maybe giving us a little backstory could've helped but I'm still in the camp of actually returning the money to the families as it was only the right thing to do.

First half of the movie was great. As soon as Sears showed up it went down hill fast.

Signed, million man.

Sears character was only good for sucking up all the oxygen during his limited time shown.

what make you think he gave all the money to the frikkin kid? pretty sure he and amanda kept the rest of the money to buy another lair and materials to build more traps.

Othetrwise then there would be the traps etc for Saw III-VI

You make an interesting point about the boy and his father which I agree with. Mailing the money back to the surviving families might have worked better and could also have been cinematic like a montage of money bags landing on doorsteps but may have gone too far in rewriting John as some kind of hero. I like the ending as is since I never saw Kramer as fair or just and him giving all or some of the money to the kid shows that even evil has standards and that Kramer has a soft spot for young children.

I totally guessed he would return the money to the víctims of the fraud. What I don't buy is trying to rewrite an extremely sadist killer in a kind of Hero.... Simply not.

This saga and John kramer have always been a cheap detivative of Se7en, anyway.

What makes you so sure she goes free? It doesn't really make it clear either way if I recall correctly; isn't she still locked in that room with only an airhole? I don't buy John letting her walk away, even if she "won" her trap (which was just killing another person, not doing anything at all to herself).
