Honestly when the horn sounds why stop???

Both movies now.....after the 12 hour Purge the horn / alarm sounds and everyone just stops?? like what??? My major issue is that I find a hard time believing.

Anyone else??

Well, they know that they could be arrested for their crimes once the siren sounds, which is kinda the point of the whole thing

Well in the first one (I havent seen the second) they dont say what the punishment is for breaking the law outside of those twelve hours but I like to believe that it has something to do with a chair & electricity.

First off, this movie was one of the worst movies I've seen in ages. But it was a blast to make fun of it with my girlfriend.

Why wouldn't you just assume that they had to deal with the usual consequences of their actions? Ie you get arrested and tried in court? If your state has the death penalty and you're convicted then sure, chair/juice whatever. I think the OP's point was that if you commit a crim after the siren stops how are they going to prove it? Also, I would be very concerned that people wouldn't stop and it would carry on like a giant riot, which I have to say is very likely. That's why riots are so hard to stop.

This movie was a FABLE, or a what-if or an alternate-world scenario -- I don't think it was meant to be "This could really happen!"

The point is how can they prove that death occurred after the alarm sounds indicating the purge is over. Hint; They can't.

I agree

once everyone has their adrenaline up / their worst animal emotions riled up and youre in the middle of a shoot out- a siren isnt going to get most people to stop

Programming. Similarly seen in the Time Machine movies. Horn sounds, the Eloi automatically go underground.
