So many plotholes in this movie.

Ok so he was obviously rich and they knew the purge was coming. So why didn't he build a 20 foot wide moat around his house filled with crocodiles. He should also have had remote control machine guns on top of the house which could take out any intruders before they got to the house.

Maybe an electric fence around the moat too.

If I wrote the script for this movie it would only be five minutes long LOL.

Also giving his teenage son the code to open all the shutters was a pretty bad idea. Also they all those cameras outside and no security camera inside?

I think I would have checked the whole house at least an hour before shutting the shutters as well.

Because the HOA in that neighborhood wouldn't let him.

Why didn't the house have an security underground bunker/vault where the family retreated and which was timer locked for the 24 hr duration of the Purge? [Shrugs]

At the very least, I'd have had places I could fire guns from.
