Who else was chanting "Kill the son" during this? (Spoilers)
He's the one responsible for all this. Even if he just has a good heart, he actually helps the stranger hide to potentially murder his family. It would have been MUCH better if it had been that the kid died. You didn't have to have the villains necessarily kill him but just have them wound him enough that his heart rate thing goes off and that's how he dies. But yes would have preferred them slicing him up.
