Well as series 3 has finished ... I am still enjoying Father Brown.

Series 3 is a little darker than the earlier series. For it has three above average episodes ...ep. 1 The Man in the Shadows, ep.5 The Last Man and ep.15 The Owl of Minerva.

The jolly band of Father Brown, Lady Felicia, Mrs McCarthy and Sid have grown a wonderful ensemble. And Insp. Sullivan continues to be frustrated ..or is it exasperated by Father Brown's interference.

Is it Chesterton? No ...but it is fun and beautifully done. No shaky camera ..no grey haze or green filters to get in the way of beautiful locations and the acting from all is wonderful.

And the various casts over the 15 episodes had some standout performances.

Not for Chesterton purists (or those offended by the liberties taken with Church ritual etc.) but great fun.

it IS great fun! I save the episodes and spread them out a bit lol I need my Marple-esque fix now and again. I hope it's coming back for a 4th series!!

It has really grown on me a lot. In the beginning I was not happy with it because all it had in common with the books was the title. But it's really quite good in its own right. A bit of fluff, but very enjoyable.

And I have a bit of a crush on Inspector Sullivan.
