Give me this over a miserable soap any day!
I'd not seen it until today and quite enjoyed it. I don't care what actors or versions came before it to be honest, this just makes a change to the usual BBC dirge.
This deserves to be viewed on it's own merits.
Ignore the snobs!

It's quite watchable really - the kind of program that used to fill the early Sunday evening slot.

I have to agree. This is a nicely done light-hearted show, which is somewhat sadly too rare these days.
