This scene doesn't make sense. Why would Alec get Pippa's body out of the river by himself and why would he risk his life instead of leaving the forensics tram do their job? It's totally unprofessional. Especially because the way it's filmes gives the impression that he is totally alone the moment he finds her. How can he carry a dead body on a crime scene without gloves by himself. It felt ridiculous.
shareHe wasn't thinking of her body as evidence. He was thinking of Pippa as his own daughter, Daisy and reacting as a father wanting to get his baby to safety and warmth. Also, as he said, water washes away most evidence. There wasn't that much to contaminate.
Logically it didn't make sense, but the writer wanted to underscore how personally affected Hardy was by that case that he would forget himself as a detective and be a father for that moment.

Still, these two main characters display an unprofessional conduct several times. It seems possible for Ellie, who tends to be more emotional. But for Hardy, I find it a bit too much.
She was lying in the creek, and if he waited until a forensics team showed up she might have drifted downstream and been lost.
