Why do some complain about there being a third movie?

I heard someone say the other day, "Why is Dreamworks making a Kungfu Panda 3?" The previous movie ended on a big cliffhanger, so it's obvious Dreamworks was going to do more. I don't see why there would be an issue. The only thing I agree with is that six Kungfu Panda movies (which Dreamworks states that they will do) is a bit much.

People complain about sequels a lot. Sometimes they think the studio is just making yet another cash grab (like the Ice Age franchise), sometimes they're happy with how the last one ended and don't want to see the story continued (like the Toy Story franchise).

However, as for the KFP franchise specifically, I think a third movie is definitely necessary, because that cliffhanger at the end of KFP2 would definitely not be a good way to end things.

Exactly.

To follow that up, I was under the impression that KFP is one of those stories that was planned from the beginning to be told as a three parter. As such, they are less sequels and more episodes.

And to sum up why people complain - they just enjoy complaining.

For my part I didn't like that cliffhanger in the first place, and the main story doesn't grab me based on the trailer. I don't like they it seems like they keep finding reasons why Po isn't all that great at what he's doing (i.e. now he has to TEACH!) and it rings of the Shrek series constantly finding reasons for Shrek to stay grumpy rather than grow or change as a character.
