Monster design

I was totally creeped out by these monsters. Hell the hair on my neck and arms stood up and I got a shiver when the arm and claw comes through the door all quiet trying to get the kid, and especially later when the thing got out of its cage and was behind the bed and the head came up. Holy cow.

Then to add to that, I call it the jackhammer jaw was a nice touch too. The first time it happened in the Rose garden house I thought it was getting shot by a machine gun, but then you see the jaw and the face bite action it was great. And the way the monsters held onto each other and rolled in, I went to WTF in a good way.

I liked this movie. Even though I like movies that have more explanation to the story, who knows where they came from, but this one was good.

Yeah the monster design here was something straight out of a John Carpenter film -- extremely inventive and extremely creepy.

And yeah, same here about that claw scene through the door. That was one of the creepiest and most unsettling scenes I've seen in a movie in decades. Yes, decades.

Goes to show that with a competent director and some good special effects, even a simple scene of a boy in a chair with a finger reaching through the door can be absolutely terrifying.
