My brother is the same way. Please explain to me why this matters at all to you so that I can better understand my brother.

Sexism has no rationale.

Straightedge means I'm better than you.

Buzzword, buzzword, buzzword.

reply

That doesn't sound extremely sexist or really dumb at all.

she's actually the most useful robin that has ever existed. also if you don't watch it just because robin is a girl then you're missing out on all of the other really awesome stuff that happens

I have a friend who refuses to watch X-MEN: FIRST CLASS simply because Wolverine isn't the star. It irritates me when people come up with the stupidest reasons possible in order to avoid seeing a good movie.

Feel free to go all Andrea Dworkin on me, but I was apprehensive about it as well. It's just the way comic books tend to handle female characters. They all look like Playboy Playmates and act like men. It's so obvious that like %80-90 of this stuff is written by men. But Carrie Kelley is a breath of fresh air. Easily one of my favorite aspects of the movie.

If Frank Miller didn't come up with this there'd be no Batman movies at all.

reply

Except The Batman (1943) Batman and Robin (1949) and Batman the Movie (1966) and very likely there would have been another Batman movie it just might not have been "dark"

reply

Back in 85, Batman comics were in a similar state to the time just before the Batman TV show. They may well have been cancelled eventually without Miller's monolithic work.

An opinion is not offensive just because you do not agree with it.

reply

Stupid reason seeing as Robin plays a supporting role most of the time.

I would understand if you didn't like seeing a girl take up the mantle of Batman himself but Robin? Who cares.

reply

Your loss. Maybe you better stick with those *beep* Christopher Nolan movies.
