surprisingly great overall

I decided to give this a watch since I'm old enough to have bought the original 4 issue mini series when it first came out.

Overall I'm really impressed by how faithful they kept to the comic, I don't watch many animated features anymore but from what I've seen I've never known one to stay so faithful to the comic. I especially appreciate the little moments where they tried to really use Frank Millers art style and a lot of the dialogue.

I do wish they kept the lady with the grenade in her purse, you know, to help keep things darker.

What I really wish though, was them keeping in the characters inner monologuing, they do try but instead go with them actually saying some of the lines. The reason why I miss it was that it gave really great insight for the characters motivation. I found myself semi saying the lines about the batmobile and supermans concerns during the fight (to name a few scenes).

I really hope they release a version with that additional audio.

WB generally is spot on with their animated stuff. I recommend All-Star Superman and Superman/Doomsday, as well as Year One (obviously), because those are my favourite out of the bunch.

All of them though, they're excellent animated films.
