In a way I'm kind of glad I didn't enjoy this

As a life long Bat-fan of everything EXCEPT the comics (could never get into them as a kid and they are less popular outside of the US anyway, I didn't have a single friend who was into them) I recently decided that I needed to get into the source material in order to quench my Bat-thirst.

As The Dark Knight Returns is often cited as being 'one of the best' I thought it would be a good place to start, especially since this adaptation was on the horizon so I hadn't had the story already told to me (Year One, Under The Red Hood). To say I was disappointed would be an understatement and it ruined any enthusiasm I had about delving into the other comics as I thought maybe they just aren't for me. I find it difficult to follow the flow of the panels and overall just found it unengaging and boring.

Luckily, I found this film to be the same so I must conclude that it is the story that is the problem for me, not the comic book medium. Therefore, I can give another comic a chance. The Long Halloween, I reckon. Definitely not anything by Miller anyway.

Formerly AD655321 I'm just a bloody normal bloke, a normal bloke who likes a bit of torture.
