The biggest problem is that it feels like it is missing half the film. I would have rather had a 2 hour and 40 minute film. They did a very very good job on it and I am looking forward to part 2.
It wouldn't have been rushed or condensed. He means one movie as in one two and a half hour long movie, not the whole story squished into 75 minutes. If anything, we probably would've just had to wait longer to see it.
But it would be cool if both were edited together in the future and given a special screening somewhere.

I know what he meant. That is not what we would have gotten. We would have still gotten one 70-minute movie made on a $3.5 million budget. However, it would have had the entire graphic novel squeezed into it. Instead, WHV will probably see if it can get us to double-dip and pick up a combined collector's edition with added bonus content.

And if it was made as a two and a half hour long movie, would you have prefer one film or have it still split in two?
A single, longer adaptation would flow better and be preferable to seeing the story split up. Even better would be a production budget that would allow for better and smoother animation (will full, cell animation being the gold standard).
