'Long Halloween' or 'Killing Joke'

Which one would you like to see get the animation treatment next?

"Fanboys. Why did it have to be Fanboys?"

reply

If the Killing Joke is properly done in Animation, I will Pee in my pants from excitement. Specially if Mark Hammill does the Joker one last time.

Would love to see both get an animated treatment. The Killing Joke with Kevin and Mark in company. Unfortunately, The Killing Joke may be too short and The Long Halloween too long for proper animated adaptation.

They pretty much did "The Killing Joke" with "Redhood" didnt they?

reply

Lord no, they pretty much did Death In The Family with Under The Red Hood. The Killing Joke needs an animation adaptation, and it needs Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill. As for it being too short, well maybe. However, I was thinking it could be done as a 35-45 minute animation short and possible included with a couple adaptations of other classic Joker stories. Like Joker's Five Way Revenge would be a good example. They could make a Joker themed showcase DTV. It would definitely sell!

reply

Alright I have the idea now. How about a DTV simply called, "The Killing Joke".

It would feature three Joker shorts of classic adaptations. The first would be The Killing Joke graphic novel itself. The second would be Joker's Five Way Revenge from Batman #251 in 1973. The third would be Batman vs. Joker from Batman #1 Spring 1940. The adapation of Killing Joke would be the longest, around 35-45 minutes of however long it needed to be. The other two between 10 and 15 minutes. Kevin and Mark as the voice. Throw in a few detailed and really cool featurettes about the Joker. Maybe one that talks about all the various actors that have played him over the years. Sounds like the makings of a great DTV.

The Long Halloween gets my vote. It is a solid concept for a full movie. The characters, the ending, and the way batman is portrayed. Remember the fact that the market is in Nolan's favor. Burton claims Killing Joke and Nolan claims Long Halloween. More people will purchase The Long Halloween.

Neither, I want Batman vs The Predator!!!!

Before Rises, I would've wanted to see a really balls-out epic version of No Man's Land. But now that they adapted that idea a bit for the last third of Rises (and did it so poorly, it almost completely ruined the flick), I doubt it's gonna get the treatment it deserves.

Anyhoo, I think Long Halloween would make for a better movie. Killing Joke is very short, and because it's soooo dark and violent, I think it would have to be pretty watered down to become a PG -- PG-13 cartoon.

Long Halloween as animated direct dvd movie is my choice. The Killing Joke came second to my vote.

reply

killing joke can easily be long enough
joker escapes
all of joker's backstory flashbacks
the shooting and rape? of barbara
the torture of gordon
batman's serach for him
their discussions
etc etc
clown gang
some scenes can be fleshed out a tad
would have to be rated mature if done right
