I think this one will go the way of Independence Day 2. Going head to head with Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be tough. I honestly can't remember the last time a true Horror/SciFi film killed it at the box office. Passengers doesn't count - it was basically a love story.
Thoughts?
It probably won't catch Guardians at the box office, but with 98% want to see it will do just fine.
shareI see them (A:C and GotG2) as very different animals. I believe I'll enjoy both (haven't seen A:C yet), but in very different ways. While both are sci-fi in nature, I see GotG2 as much more comic book/humor/adventure and A:C is horror. Even being so close together on the release calendar, I think they aren't really going after the same audience, even if there ends up being overlap.
sharePrometheus will have already cooled a lot of flames for this and after seeing it I have to say its warranted. My problem is that I went into this looking for a sequel to prometheus which this is in name only. All the interesting questions have been cast aside in favour of death by stupidity for each crew member. As an alien movie, its not too bad. Its not the best, but its better than resurrection and on par with 3.
