Ladies, was Jamie good looking enough?

He was kind of strange looking. Those unusual dimples above the corners of his mouth when he smiles are distracting. And that hair. Shades of Napolean Dynamite, no?

I thought he was quite handsome The Fall, but he was just odd in this.

Did he live up to the character in the book?

...then whoa, differences...

reply

No... I keep trying. I'm watching the movie now for the first time since seeing it when it premiered.....and...ugh it's worse than I remember. And believe me I loved the books. Jamie Dorian is just simply not that handsome and it irks me because he is not at all how I picture Christian. He was just stiff I don't think he can have the swag Christian has.

reply

He has said they both had more time to prepare for Darker...and felt much more at ease...he is just what I pictured for Grey.

reply

Charlie Hunnam would have been better but he has respect for women and knows a good storyline,

Jamie is cute but more attractive as a serial killer

No didn't find either attractive

No. I just watched the movie for the first time, and Jamie just falls so flat. I was pleasantly surprised by Dakota Johnson. She's a very good actress, and I felt she was a perfect Ana. But Jamie's Christian was so bland. It's not that he's not a good-looking guy, he just doesn't have the sex appeal necessary to play the character. In a few scenes, at the right angles, he looked kind of like what I pictured Christian looking like, but for the most part he just didn't live up to the way the character is described. His eyes are dull or something. And his HAIR! Ugh.

I will say, though, that it has been a long time since I read the book (only read the first one), and I'm currently on the third book of the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day, so maybe I've got Gideon Cross (whom I picture as a combination of Henry Cavill and JFK, Jr.) on the brain instead of Christian Grey.

It's too bad. If they had cast an actor with more sex appeal, the movie would have been a lot more enjoyable.

Agreed. I felt like she was perfect as well. She's very good at playing the awkward/cute girl.

His hair bothered me too. I expected it to look a little more refined.

I thought Jamie was overall just "okay." I felt like Dakota out-shined him, but he wasn't horrible. I do think he was handsome but he did have a couple of creepy moments lol. I think he's maybe one of those actors that will start off kinda slow but then start to get to know their character better and then act better in the sequels. He already looks better in the trailer for the next movie, imo.

Yes.. Just ask Calvin Klein. By objective standards, Dornan is beautiful but it may be a question of taste. Your preferences may vary. Maybe you like heavier men or blue-eyed men or blond men.

Don't tell me you love animals if that's cow muscle on your plate.

reply

I feel like he's ok but something about his smile is off. Almost dorkish. But I don't find Ana attractive either. I'm watching for the 1st time now and it's been awhile since I read the book. I didn't like the book but am hoping the movie is still entertaining.

WTF, JAmie is gorgeous. Some people here are complaining about the hair, but that's not his decision, that was the stylist!!
He's really good looking and handsome, the problem here is something else, not his looks. It's about how good an actor he is, how he portrays the character, but not about that.

reply

I thought he was better than most people give him credit. I think he will grow more in his character for the sequels and become a better actor. He already looks better in the trailer for the new movie :)

reply

I thought he greatly improved in Darker...he knows Christian now..and love the stubble...not so baby faced..

reply

Yes, the stubble is MUCH better. I have a thing for beards/stubble in general lol

reply

His facial hair grows so fast that he said he was shaving three times a day. He complained about it. The director in Darker allowed him to keep the stubble.
