Watching it but ready to pull the plug....absurd initial sequence..

...not even 15 minutes into the movie.

I cannot believe nobody mentioned this already

The pick up truck flips over and over and magically lands upright and, most of all, miraculously intact!! At minimum the chassis should be so bent out of shape that normal driving would be impossible.

The driver could not get the truck unstuck but magically the major character manages to get it out in a breeze.

There is no way in hell that a pick up truck of that type could keep up with that Holden Commodore V8 Sport Sedan....the 3 bad guys could just floor it a little bit and disappear in the dust.

Sloppy sloppy sloppy...I do not care how the plot may be intriguing but attention to details and scene development is terrible.

I expect that kind of absence of realism in shoot them all kind of movies like Fast and Furious or The Expendable where suspension of disbelief is a requirement for watchers.

Next time you're in a pick up truck, try and hit someone in the back seat, see if you even come close to hitting the driver hard enough to make him yank the wheel lol..

I agree, let's say absolutely best case scenario that truck would have a bent wheel with aun beaded tire.. I finished it barely and wish I pulled the plug here

Technically we didn't see it flip over.

The driver could not get the truck unstuck but magically the major character manages to get it out in a breeze.

The truck was stuck, and they assumed it would stay stuck because they were in a rush so it was faster to steal another car.

You don't mention the worst part, that they would leave the key in the truck.

Yeah, we DO see it flip over... I literally just watched the scene on Netfix in my other browser. ffs...

I was going to pull the plug at the 15 minute mark but fell asleep at the 12 minute mark.

And those fifteen minutes are the only watchable parts of this movie. I didn't get it at all. Now that doesn't make it a "bad movie", but I think this one just cobbled a bunch of strange and violent and non-sensical scenes together, and then it was finally over at 1:42. Like the old Dylan song said, "Nothing is Revealed!"

This was a very disappointing effort by David Michod, who brought us the all-time great Animal Kingdom (2010).

I think the score of 6-point-5 is overly generous for this one.

I can't tell if you're trolling or if you just didn't understand the movie.

Eric, played by Guy Pearce, opens the film by pulling up in his car to have a drink. He needs a drink because his dog just died. Now keep in mind, we also learn later that 10 years ago or so Eric murdered his wife and her lover. So, 10 years ago, the civilization Eric knew suffered some sort of collapse. In addition to that, he suffered his own personal collapse. It is very likely that his dog was the only companion who has remained with him through all of this terrible stuff. We also learn that Eric was depressed by the fact that he was able to murder his wife and no one even cared. The collapse rendered man's law largely nullified. This is a man who wanted to be punished for his crime, but the system that would carry out such punishment is gone. Basically the thieves are in the wrong place at the wrong time, and they steal his car with his dog in the trunk. This is just the final straw for Eric. As a man who still holds on to the traditions of the society that is now defunct, Eric believes in honoring his friend and companion. He has nothing to lose so he pursues the men in order to retrieve his car and his dog.

I personally loved this movie. As someone who suffers from depression and has dogs, it is amazing the bond you develop with a dog when everyone else writes you off and doesn't want to have anything to do with you. A dog will always remain loyal. My dogs have seen me through some horrible times. They've seen me at my absolute worst. This is what drives Eric to find his car.

In the end, Eric does everything he needs to do to get his dog back. He succeeds and in the end is finally able to pay his friend the respect Eric feels he deserves. A burial.

56 minutes in to the movie none of this was disclosed... and now that I've read your post I don't have to punish myself watching the other 46.

Ugh. Fury Road had more depth.

Just finished watching this great movie, and whilst I feel your post was very good, I feel you should have mentioned how he grew fond of Rey, too. There was kind of an unspoken friendship by the end, and you could see the final scenes hurt him. I thought it was a terrific movie, well put together with some excellent shots, a great soundtrack and two absolutely superb performances from Pearce and Pattinson.

With all the mediocre movies they make today, I can easily let that detail "slide", in this movie.

They don't show how exactly they flip over, the peak of the quarrel is off-screen, and they could have hit an obstacle as well.

Keep in mind that the story is futuristic and somewhat post-apocalyptic. You don't know what state the vehicle's engine is in.

I think the antagonists had the same odds of getting the car unstuck, but they did not know how long it would take.

It is not fair to judge/analyse a movie while watching it, meaning you browse in between pausing it. I've seen "The Rover" in the cinema and I'm glad I did, it was quite immersive on many levels.

Films, especially non-popcorn stuff, deserve to be apreciated without interuption or distraction.

But in the end, beauty, or even art, is often in the eye of the beholder.

Who cares you think to much! You must be in us rag.

Movies always have unrealistic things but this is just tedious nitpicking.

I was able to suspend disbelief for this scene compared to the 100km long runway in the most recent Fast and Furious!

Initial flipping seen from inside the truck scene (truck turning on its side), then you can see truck flipping from outside through the window of the bar where Guy Pearce is drinking and there is Chinese music playing in the background...

This movie is really terrible, so many chances in this "survival" world where they didn't grab guns and other resources, and the story is just stupid and boring. I was upset it was so bad. Great video work etc but horrible plot and no attention to detail.
