By the Time I Finished Watching This Show...

I had absolutely, positively no remorse for a single character. Every single character depicted was awful, and vain and even attempts to redeem them were pitiful and unconvincing to me. I only watched the end of this to see who lived an who died (as I had no prior knowledge of the history of the War of the Roses and had never read any of the books, which I hear have no basis on what actually happened anyway). I will say that watching the show prompted me to do my research and it was interesting to see the events leading up to the reign of the Tudors, a period of history we are all too familiar with and have seen depicted time and again. I'm a sucker for period pieces, even though these days they focus far too much on sex and violence for my liking, compared to how they used to be. It is quite a shame that these aspects have been included because I feel that the reasoning to add sex and violence is abused and overused and actually take away from the show. But again, it was nice to see a depiction of a period of history (however real or made up it may have been) which is not as well- known. At least, not to well-known to me, and I am certainly no history buff. That is all.

I enjoyed it for what it was.

I'm reading The Kings Curse right now and, before that, I read The White Princess. Many of the characters from TWQ carry over to these books and having seen TWQ helps me to be able to put beautiful faces to the names.

Hopefully Starz gets the go-ahead soon to start casting The White Princess.
