Jimmy Perez

Before last week my favourite TV policeman was DCI Banks - having purchased the DVD of Shetland (as we are not getting this excellent series in Australia) - my new favourite TV cop is Jimmy Perez, played with his usual charm by Douglas Henshell. I've missed him since Primeval - hope there is a DVD of series 3!

Jimmy is a brilliant creation and wonderfully handled. He easily slipped into my current top 5

1. Christopher Foyle
2. Endeavour Morse
3. Jimmy Perez
4. Catherine Cawood
5. DCI Banks

It'll be tough for anyone to replace Foyle. But Jimmy is a damn good guy....

A good roster, but Foyle's War (particularly during the war years) will always top my list. Kitchen was simply brilliant in a wonderfully written series. It was subtle, understated and compelling.

Much as I like Shetland and Jimmy Perez, the wry, quietly intense Foyle will always have pride of place.

There's just no comparison. Kitchen's acting combined with the production values, not to mention Horowitz's writing...just no comparison.

That said, Henshall's Perez has grown on me as I just finished a binge-watch of all 3 seasons. I'd love to see a 4th!

Marsden as Dalglish. Even better as Burnside in The Sandbaggers.

I think my percentage of Chimp DNA is higher than others. Cleaver Greene

I agree that Kitchen's portrayal of C. Foyle is the best! Love all the smirks & eye language.

Not seeing any love for a couple good ones: Martin Shaw as Gently and Brenda Blethlyn as Vera.

No longer a cop, but Bullman was definitely a piece of work. And of course Regan who started it all. I just finished all the Black Books and had to find a youtube ep of The Sweeney so my son would understand the reference to Carter and the leather jacket in one episode. And then there is DCI Gene Hart, a character so good they had to make 24 more eps just to keep him alive.

My Chimp DNA seems to have lost its password temporarily. Sluggr-2
