Sasha aka: Wonder Woman
I know it is probably just me but is anyone else tired of the shows push to portray Sasha as Wonder Woman? I feel like Green and co. have been pushed to the background in favor of Sasha's character.

shareYou must be joking. All of them have been doing superhuman stuff. They put her in the sniper position, which is one of the least superhuman of all the actions people have been doing on this show and you btch and moan?
Stop hating.
Semi OT, but I thought she'd actually make a better Wonder Woman (2017) than Gal Gadot.
On topic, I think she's getting more screen time since she will be Chandler's new love interest.

Since the movie hasn't even come out yet, how exactly are you making a qualified judgement?

This show (like many action shows) has to include a Woman of Power. Kara was 'grounded' ashore because she has a baby, so she can't be the Designated Kick-@ss Female, so they had to bring in another one. Not content with bestowing the title of Designated Kick-@ss Female to someone already on the ship, they created a new character: Sasha. They made her 1) connected to the Chinese government, 2) connected to Chandler by some mysterious past, 3) an intelligence officer, and of course, 4) automatically a better combatant than almost anyone on the James, and that's why she goes on all the missions, and lastly, 5) she's attractive. Because TV shows and movies can't have a Designated Kick-@ss Female who's not really, really pretty. I think the Powers That Be rolled the characteristics of two or three people into one, for convenience sake, and named her Sasha.
She's basically a Mary Sue, as written by male writers.
I was fine with last season's DKAF. She gave Burk a teasing romantic interest, didn't do everything but as an Israeli commando she worked in that area.
I like Bridget Regan on the show, but Sasha is a bit too much. She's the translator, she's the lawyer, she's the sniper, she's the... I'd say most likely candidate to be a traitor.

She can't be the traitor anymore. The blonde woman is that.
I can't believe the sexism on this board. So it's okay the show has about 5 designated kick-*ss men with zero complaints but when there's one female, then that's a problem.
And all the main guys (who haven't died) are very good looking too. There should be eye candy for all.
There's plenty of 'eye-candy for all.' That's not the problem. For me, the problem with Sasha is that she apparently IS acting as Wonder-woman. Unlike the other (male) characters, she can do it all. In fact, I'm a little surprised she hasn't said she can fly a chopper too, or run the conn, or perform surgery.
There are many examples of shows with terrific Designated Kick-@ss Females. They fit in with the rest of the team/cast beautifully. But here, Sasha sticks out like a sore thumb. Her capability in just about every convenient area just seems unrealistic.
What are you talking about plenty of eye candy for all? Kara is the only other female eye candy left besides Sasha and she's eh. Hot guys outnumber the hot girls by more than double.
Sasha can really do only one thing more than the guys and that is translate. And they seem to have the guys in combat scenes a lot more than her, hence her position as sniper.
You're really just trying to find an excuse to hate her. Real reason is what I tell my sister she suffers from too, subconscious sexism.
If Sasha started flying a helicopter she would have reached Abrams Mary Sue levels. Thankfully she's not there yet, but it seems like her skills expand every episode. Just this week she was suddenly a sniper, detective, and famous quote guru. Don't be shocked if next week she's a mechanic, doctor, and comedian.

I don't object to Sasha being eye candy. But the fact that her character seems to be able to do everything... it's unrealistic.
Contrary to your assumptions, I don't hate Sasha (or the actor who plays her). I simply roll my eyes at her, and the blame for that lies with the writers. And I hope you didn't hurt yourself by jumping to conclusions.
You're really just trying to find an excuse to hate her. Real reason is what I tell my sister she suffers from too, subconscious sexism.Oh brother. I just love a self-righteous poster. You can deduce ALL THIS from a post or two. My - aren't you clever.
It's one thing to dislike a female character. Another thing to see things that are totally not there. "Wonder Woman"? come one. She was sitting out of the action in the last episode while the guys were on the train. And this comment came after this last ep so it should have been fresh on her mind. If is smells like Sh*t, it probably is.
You don't have to hate someone completely to be sexist either.
Hey, I can understand not agreeing with the guy. And debating the topics. But the lazy and silly thing to do these days is to toss some label on someone.
"You're a racist!", "You're a sexist!!". It's beyond irritating. It's pathetic. And the constant outcries of this nature serve to water down true sexism and true racism. ESPECIALLY racism - which is the most overused term in American culture these days. There's a difference between prejudice, racial, and RACISM. It seems everything these days is lumped into the last term "racism/racist". We can't begin to fix these problems if we don't understand the terms, and when/where to apply them. Using the terms "Racist" and Racism" as a default regarding everything that has to do with race, and calling everything and everyone 'sexist' just because it involves a female, just fuels a fire that's already burning very hot. We need to be careful how we label something, or someone. Because a racist engaged in racism or a sexist engaged in sexism is MUCH different than what almost all of us have to some degree, which is some form of prejudice.
Although you make a strong argument, I disagree with you.
I think it's actually the subtle sexism that hurts people the most. It's the most rampant and affect the most people.
We should call it out for what it is so people are aware of it and can fight it.
Yes, we all are prejudice in some way but we shouldn't just say, oh well, that's how we are and just continue the prejudice. We should call it out for what it is and then do something about it. Once we know it's there, we can do something.
Wow you're really just being a jerk.
They shoved Sasha down our throats to replace Dr. Scott. They decided to give a ton of screentime to Sasha to make up for all the screentime Dr. Scott used to have. Yes it's a lot. Yes it was forced.
This has absolutely nothing to do with sexism.
I'd just rather the time be split between Garnett, Sasha, Kara, and I want Val back.
Unlike the other (male) characters, she can do it all.
she hasn't said she can fly a chopper too, or run the conn, or perform surgery.
Ahhhhh the threatened males are roaring.............or is that whimpering in a corner. I'd rather see Sasha do anything that any of the other guys with the possible exception of Wolf's martial arts fighting
shareAhhh the threatened feminist retorting to everyone being automatically male despite some users having feminine names suggesting they could either be female or gender fluid.
shareslackersmom, you'd fit in nice on the new Star Wars boards. lol

shareYeah, it is just you. That is not happening at all.
In the last ep she was on overwatch whilst the guys were the ones jumping on the train. The facts do not support your thesis at all.

They're just going to complain if a chick does anything manly. My son constantly complains about this. The most out of shape guy can do anything but if a chick can throw a punch or even worse take one..........WATCH OUT THE WORLD IS ENDING!!!!!
shareLol. Truth.
shareBut the thing is she actually did not do any of that in the episode that immediately preceded the creation of the thread.
I do not have a problem with kick-ass women and Sasha has done a bit of the kick-ass-ery just not recently and in any event not to the extent that she could be elevated to wonder woman status.
In a nutshell: dumb thread.

There's a big difference between a female character being portrayed as a human with flaws and being portrayed as a superhuman that is good at virtually everything, as if she's Nikita, Buffy, Alice (from Resident Evil) and Xena all in one. That is what you would call a "Mary Sue," a female character created to be perfect in every way in order to overcompensate for a preconceived lack of strong female representation in entertainment. That is also the character trope people like yourself claim does not exist and anyone talking about it is being sexist.
I don't think Sasha is a "Mary Sue," however, I think that because they have given her such important skills (marksmanship, recon, lawyer, translator) along with her being a clear replacement for Rachel and a shoehorned love interest for Tom, it has caused people to think she is. It also doesn't help that she has no personality is simply there to help or comfort Tom. They did a better job at developing Jesse and she had less screen time. Hopefully the writers can develop her better next season because this is really the first time they've failed to develop a major character.
She's just a crappy replacement for Rachel.
shareThe entire problem is that she IS a replacement for Dr. Scott.
shareYes sir.. And I believe that most of the disapproval come from people who are miffed about this.
I started watching the last ship from season 3 and I totally love Sasha's character. I do not know a Rachel neither do I care a thing for her. Also, Sasha's character is in no way overwhelming. On the contrary, if any character was becoming too much, I would vote for Shaw.
They pulled a good one on us when it became obvious that she actually had an evil agenda but her character quickly evolved into this monster that did not hesitate at killing anyone, partner or foe on a whim. When Chandler's kids said that they killed their grand-dad... I was like, 'Ok guys.. we get it! Shaw's an evil b*tch.. She does not have to kill everyone else before you stop her..' Then they proceed to give her a quick and painless exit as if she was just another security detail on the wrong team.. SMH!
I believe that most of the disapproval come from people who are miffed about this.
This Rachel character, the one you don't know about, is the one that helped create the antidote to the virus that has killed most of the people on the entire planet. Hardly a nobody.
sharehis Rachel character, the one you don't know about,
Hardly a nobody.
Hardly a nobody
Fair enough sammyxander.
shareI hate that Rachel is gone, but Sasha is not a good character, replacement or not. Val was a better character, for example.
shareThen who is Clark and Bruce?
