Unfortunatly unlike Anakin/Vader, Ben Solo/Kylo Ren never had a solid character arc and was written as a spoiled evil emo just like how stupid his light saber was designed.

Doubt people would have accepted him as a character with such ending that's probably why they let him die cause that's the only redemption his stupid character needs.

But I agree Rey should have stayed dead would have been more powerful and impactful ending to the trilogy.
